TIBBP Medallions - in progress

Have you seen these wonderful medallions by Kelly Savage? She made them especially for http://www.theinternationalblessedbroodmareproject.com, a group of model horse hobbyists and horse rescuers that's saving former PMU mares and their foals from slaughter.

I've got three of these.. two of which will be for sale soon, the proceeds to go to the TIBBP of course.

I've been struggling with finishing them though - how to paint the 'TIBBP'-bit? I've been thinking about painting that part 'magnolia' and slightly hightlighting the letters. Good idea?

I've been planning to make a blog for some time now, but I didn't really plan to do it now, grin! Oh well.. Hi!

Welcome to Caraway Studios - a rather big name for a model horse hobbyist who collects too many artist resins and will never be able to paint them all in oils and mixed media ;) Are you familiar with this hobby? It started in the USA, where people showed their plastic Breyer horses and customized them. Since then it's grown into an international hobby with a broad range, from tiny plastic horses to big sculptures made from artist resin or china. The one thing that we all share is a love of horses, obviously.

This week is a special one, because for the first time I've sold one of my artist resins - a traditional sized Arab stallion sculpted by the mind-bogglingly talented Brigitte Eberl from Germany. He was one of the first artist resins that I dared to try my painting on - I like a challenge ;) Although he almost seemed to paint himself, he's so photogenic. He's shown above. He's going to a good home, but I'll miss him.
